The Sailing Heritage Society
Brightening the Lives of Ill Children
with Sailing Trips on the Healing Seas
The Sailing Heritage Society provides a variety of services
to our community while focusing on individuals with serious medical
conditions. We provide free therapeutic trips for those living with
cancer or other serious illness, vulnerable youth, and many others
whose lives have been turned upside down. We
also conduct shipboard crew training for our volunteers. Guests join
us for cruises on Lake Union and Lake Washington free of charge,
and our volunteers provide refreshments, good cheer, and even the
chance to help sail a 65 ft schooner!
Each year Sailing Heritage Society
- Provided over 100 free sailing trips
- Hosts over 5,000 guests
- Benefits from over 5,000 volunteer hours
- Presents over 600 Honorary Captain’s Certificates
Patients, caregivers and families from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research
Center, Starlight Children's Foundation, and many more groups have joined
our Seattle morning sailboat cruises since 1995. Sailing trips on Lake
Union or Lake Washington, in the heart of Seattle, help alleviate stress
that affects the entire family when a member becomes seriously ill.
